Ramsdell Public Library in the village of Housatonic, in Great Barrington, MA

Theodore G. Ramsdell, owner of Monument Mountain Mills, requested his family donate $25,000 from his estate as a "thank you" to the residents of Housatonic. The library, built at a total cost of $40,000 was opened to the public on June 26, 1908. The building is located on the site of the first house built in Housatonic in 1804. The first floor holds the library, the second floor is a theater. Programs continue to be offered in the theater. For more information check our Events listings or contact Dawn Barbieri.
